Orion nebula

Seeing must have been exceptional that night, imaging on subsequent nights yielded nothing remotely close to these images.

Latest of Venus yesterday. Less atmospheric turbulence so the globe is better defined. Taken against a very light sky well before sunset.

Sun spots

After around two weeks of exceptionally low sun spot activity, things are picking up. Here's an image of  the only large group visible today.

Saturn

Testing a new camera, not great seeing.

28/12/2016
As it turned out the new camera, QHY 5P-II-C, which while having a high resolution also suffered from high noise, rendering in not too useful for astro imaging. A week or so later I purchased a QHY 5L-II-C, it doesn't have the high resolution but is streets ahead on the noise front and much more useable.
